Permanent Closure of the Heritage Skateboard Park
It’s with heavy hearts we are announcing the closure of the heritage skatepark and dissolution of the RSC current board members (effective March 1st, 2026). This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, but we are also excited to guide the next generation through the existing connections and continue this venture. This wouldn’t have been possible without the immense support of the City of Regina, countless volunteers/staff, and REAL. We hope to see these partnerships continue into the foreseeable future and create spaces for the youth to grow in positive and supportive environments.
Let’s all make the most of the next few days we have in our current space and celebrate what we’ve accomplished together.
The RSC was formed in 2020 as a passion project to create a space for skateboarders during the long sask winters. There was a couple “almost skateparks” that were close but didn’t quite happen. From the basement of the old YWCA, to the built skatepark that never was due to Covid in what’s now the yqr distillery. Through all of the set backs we persevered to eventually secure our current space in the Avana centre. We couldn’t appreciate our time here more and are so grateful for all the partnerships and unrelenting contributions of volunteers and staff.
From the bottom of our hearts thank you to everyone who contributed to this project!
